Building on the world class genetics of the Cumberland Wagyu herd
Our first full blood cow was purchased from Steve Ramshaw at Northumberland Wagyu early in 2022, which was shortly followed by a full blood heifer.
In September 2022, following Steve Ramshaw’s decision to retire, the opportunity arose to purchase the entire Redewater Wagyu herd from Northumbria Wagyu.
This herd now forms part of the Cumberland Wagyu herd situated Maryport between the Solway Coast and Lake District.
Genuine Wagyu genetics
100% of the full blood genetics of our cattle can be traced back to the original Wagyu/Kobe cattle that came out of Japan prior to 1997, before the Japanese government declared Wagyu cattle as a national treasure and banned further exports.
We have embarked upon an advanced breeding program to build upon the excellent bloodlines which we have been incredibly fortunate to take over and we expect our first full blood calves to be born this summer.
